Critical Approach of Ayurveda

Irrespective of so many benefits of Ayurveda, it is criticized by large masses. Perhaps because of the lack of awareness about this age-old science or the urge for a quick-fix solution. However, there are also a number of misconceptions about Ayurveda. Some of them are:

Approach 1 – Ayurveda is believed to take a longer time in curing a disease as compared to other medical sciences. The reason behind this is that unlike other forms of treatments, Ayurveda attacks the root cause of the diseases and aims at eliminating it completely, which justifies its long-term treatment process.

Approach 2 – Ayurveda is believed to be the ideal treatment only for chronic (long-term) diseases. Undoubtedly Ayurveda has a great record of its effectiveness on chronic ailments (like asthma, diabetes, blood pressure, etc.) but it can be equally effective for short-term problems like a headache, fever, cold, etc.

Approach 3 – Ayurvedic products are believed to be made up of some conventional recipes and home remedies. Ayurveda does consist of all natural ingredients, but they are formulated and customized according to the needs of the patient and is, therefore, more effective.

Approach 4 – Ayurveda is believed to lack sync with modernism. Ayurvedic treatments are performed with conventional methods and techniques. According to Ayurveda, the elemental imbalances of doshas in one’s body is the cause of all the physical and mental ailments of the body. However, Ayurveda can suffice the needs of the complete body and can greatly influence modern sciences.

Ayurveda has undoubtedly got an edge over any other form of treatment in terms of cost efficiency, effectiveness, ease of availability, nature-friendliness and uniqueness in treatment. These are the reasons people from throughout the world are showing an increasing interest towards Ayurveda. It is not just a medical science but is a way of life with cultural and traditional values attached to it.
